For millions of TV fans all over the world and the 180,000 strong crowd, the Glastonbury Festival this year was all about Lionel Richie, Kanye West and The Who… or was it?Glastonbury’s Michael Eavis is joined onstage in the Piano Bar by Milford girl Aoife Dick and guests. For 23-year-old Aoife Dick from Milford her very special Glastonbury moment came in the wee small hours of the Saturday night. It was then that she joined Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis for a rare old late night session at the legendary Underground Piano Bar. This is a secret location in the Festival’s network of sites out among Worthy Farm’s rolling hillside site of one thousand acres. Aoife is now a trusted member of staff for the Glastonbury festival and she told us that it is the experience of a lifetime to work and be part of the show.A glass or two of Poitin was enjoyed as Aoife joined the legendary dairy farmer, Michael Eavis in a number of songs that included his very own version of ‘Goodnight Irene’.Michael also sang with the Moody Blues during their storming set at the Acoustic Stage. There was not a dry eye in the house as the set in the Piano Bar ended to widespread acclaim and a leading member of the Glastonbury team has vowed to bring more Donegal performers to Somerset in future years. We understand that a well-known squeeze box artist living some distance from the Donegal shoreline could soon be on the guest list in the Piano Bar. In the meantime staff at the Eavis Farm are still basking in the singing of Michael and Aoife: obviously both were too bashful to give away the exact details of their choice of songs. This week we’ve been hearing about the logistics of putting on such a spectacle from our own fans at the Eavis Farm. The legendary event now has 103 stages across 1,000 acres and there are 1200 performances.Today Aoife Dick is a key member of staff at the festival site office on the Eaves Farm in Somerset and now she’s part of the legend that is the Piano Bar.It is here hidden away among the rolling hillsides that some of the great Glastonbury musical moments happen with Aoife and her Boss leading the sing-song as the audience rock and roll to the best sounds onsite on the Saturday night. There are over 40,000 workers involved during the festival in making it all happen and to ensure that every last punter gets real value for money. And fans keep returning, year after year from the four corners of the earth to sample what has got to some so unique that there never can be something quite like the Glastonbury Experience. And there is the Piano Bar: It is the stuff of Glastonbury legend – a hidden underground bar that does not appear on any maps or official guides, where a number of lucky fans, either by luck or error find themselves on a musical journey that could embrace music from Ireland’s chequered history to Brazil, Mexico or Peru.Glastonbury is one of the world’s most eclectic festivals and it goes from strength to strength down on the farm in Somerset where the 380 strong Holstein herd of purebreds continue to produce milk and the process the Eaves farm has won this year’s national dairy award for milk production. And Aoife’s boss confessed to the Tribune that among the guests in the piano bar this year was her dad. Gerry Dick is a well-known vet in Milford and being out on a farm is his forte.MILFORD WOMAN IS A HIT A GLASTONBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL was last modified: July 9th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:AOIFE DICKdonegalGLASTONBURY MUSIC FESTIVALMilford
